My inspiration for creating images is the desire for Life’s inherent beauty and essence. Imagination and heart long for direct communion with essence. This desire takes me on a journey into my deep self, and there I am reminded that this deep self is neither different than, nor separate from, your deep self. There is only one. Such a journey is a healing journey, and with grace, I may find wholeness, compassion, mystery, patience, faith and love.
My most important art-making tool is neither brush, computer nor camera. It is the enrichment of awareness and consciousness. I can't imagine creating an image without practices that cultivate both silence and sound, stillness and movement, and deep feeling and transcendence.
These prints are the culmination of a creative process that begins with a camera. Through a macro lens, at a very close viewing distance, I immerse myself in a journey of color, form, scent, and essence, sometimes precipitating a truly ecstatic experience. These images become the basis for an even deeper studio exploration into not only what I saw, but into what I feel and desire. The visual arts are, for me, more about feeling than they are about seeing. I allow emotion to guide the hand as it uses a variety of tools to further reveal the mystery in the image.
For this current series, flowers have provided an abundance of pleasure and delight. May your experience of these images of beauty and union bring you pleasure, peace and wellness.
